Villas to rent
Mijas Costa is a large stretch of land which is approximately 30 minutes west of Málaga international airport and all urbanizations in this municipality are
positioned along and accessed by the A7 (N340) coast road.
When talking about Mijas Costa it generally refers to a stretch of land from
Calahonda, along the coast to Riviera del Sol, Miraflores, La Cala, El Faro and
also includes inland areas that envelope Fuengirola along its North Edge.
Generally anything south of the A7 is Fuengirola at this point, and anything
North would be Mijas Costa (although this region is not strictly speaking on the
coast). The municipality covers 148km.
Directions from Malaga Airport:
Take: Avenida del Comandante Garcia Morat for 1.2km
Turn right onto: Avenida de Velazquez / N-340 for 2.8km
Take: Autopista del Mediterráneo / A-7 / E-15 for 16km
Exit towards: Exit 214, Costa - Fuengirola - Marbella
Continue along A-7 / E-15 for 12.5km
Mijas Costa has only recently been developed and consists of urbanizations and
golf courses catering for a growing number of ex-pat residents and holiday
makers.
Three decades ago this region was mostly farmland interspersed with luxury
villas generally belonging to people with enough wealth to buy themselves peace
and tranquillity. The region grew along the edges of the main coastal
thoroughfare between Málaga and Marbella, known as the A7 (N340); allowing easy
access to Malaga airport. Growth was inevitable as tourists flocked to the
region and purchased holiday homes.
All the towns within this region are relatively new, but the odd roman building
can still be found amongst the newer townhouses, villas and apartments.
Mijas Costa is not a town, but a term given to the towns that stretch over 25kms
from Calahonda to Fuengirola and Inland to Mijas Pueblo, bordering with parts of
Benalmadena.
With a population of more than 46,000 inhabitants it is the most modern part of
the Municipal Area, where many industrial and commercial zones are located.
The region is popular with northern European tourists and the facilities are
very much aimed at catering for these particular tastes. However, the inland
regions of Mijas Costa still retain some of the old culture and flair. Small
café bars and larger restaurants are still owned and run by Spanish locals.
The Costa del Sol is aptly named – the sun makes an appearance almost every day
and temperatures range from a mild 8ºC in the winter to a very pleasant 30ºC in
the summer, consequently outdoor activities play a huge part in our lives, from
the more energetic pursuits such as sailing, swimming and golf to the very
popular relaxing pastime of eating and drinking!
Enjoy a plethora of sports facilities and a dynamic range of culinary delights
available in the wide selection of fantastic restaurants and cafés in every town
and city on the Costa del Sol!
Culture vultures are certainly not forgotten. The magnificent historical cities
of Sevilla, Granada, Córdoba and Jerez are only a pleasant day trip away. Who
could visit the Alhambra in Granada and not be impressed! Conversely, North
África is an hour’s boat ride across the strait from Algeciras – Morocco,
Tangier, Casablanca - names to fire the imagination.
Enjoy ‘Costa Living’ to the full! Experience the vast cultural heritage of
Andalucía: fairs, festivals, castles, cathedrals, equestrian shows, bull-fights,
fine wines, electrifying flamenco music and dance and much more…
