Sierrezuela

Sierrezuela is an upmarket urbanised area located approximately 10 minutes from the livelier area of Fuengirola. It is nestled at the foot of a mountain and many of the luxurious villas enjoy wonderful views of the landscape. There is only one entrance to the area and so it is quiet and relaxing. It has lush green vegetation and mature gardens to enjoy. It is a tranquil place that is conveniently located for the busier towns in this part of the Costa del Sol.

Main Tourist Attractions

Due to its proximity to Fuengirola and Mijas, you will find many activities to do in the surrounding area of Sierrezuela. Walkers, hikers and mountain bikers will enjoy the mountains situated behind the urbanised area. There are also several golf courses located nearby including Mijas Golf and Naranjas Golf courses. Fuengirola has an open air zoo where the animals are allowed to roam in an imitation of their natural habitat and will be a popular attraction with the children. They can also have fun at the water park. History lovers can venture to the impressive Solhail Castle which overlooks Fuengirola. Other activities available to visitors include tennis, swimming, horse riding and go-karting. The beach is a short distance from Sierrezuela and here you can relax on the shoreline or venture out into the sea. Watersports such as diving, windsurfing and water skiing are widely available. Mijas offers visitors the opportunity to visit the bullring and a museum holds art exhibitions and local artefacts.

There are no shops located in the urbanised area of Sierrezuela, a reflection of how truly serene it is. Fuengirola has the Miramar shopping centre which is a must for shopaholics. It has a wide variety of products to purchase including clothing, jewellery, watches, shoes, handbags, linen, pottery and electrical goods. There are also a few smaller shopping areas where you can find small shops and boutiques. Fuengirola holds a flea market on Saturdays and you are sure to pick up a bargain there.

Eating Out and Nightlife

Sierrezuela has one fine dining restaurant that is located near the entrance to the urbanisation. The many eateries of Fuengirola are just a short walk away. You can savour a mix of traditional Spanish cuisine such as tapas, paella and tortillas. There are also many eateries which serve international cuisine from countries including Britain, France, Mexico, China and Italy. There are several fast food outlets if you prefer.

Evenings in Sierrezuela are mostly spent enjoying a bottle of wine on the beautiful balcony or patio area of your luxurious villa. The area is so serene and there are no discos and nightclubs. For those who like a more vibrant scene, there are many bars, nightclubs and discos to be found in Fuengirola.
