Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro is a town located in the area of
Sotogrande, which lies
to the east of
Marbella. It is a buzzing little town which reflects the
traditional Spanish way of life. There are many things to see and do in the
surrounding area and the residents are always welcoming to tourists.
Main Tourist Attractions
The area is prominent with a golf course for keen players of the game to enjoy.
Sotogrande has a golf course and a golfing academy. Other nearby courses include
La Canada and Valderrama. Sporting activities such as tennis, polo, swimming and
horse riding are available. The area has some stunning beaches and a swim off
the shore of Tarifa beach is a must. You can choose to relax in the sun or do
some water skiing, jet skiing or diving. A short journey to
Manilva has many
historical buildings including the Roman sulphur baths and an aqueduct.
Estepona
offers the chance to see a bullfight. If you are not into this kind of sport,
then you can wander around the four museums attached to it.
Shopping Opportunities
The town has many small family run shops where you can pick up holiday
essentials and souvenirs. There are a few small boutiques that offer some
clothing, shoes, bags and leather goods. There is a supermarket which sells
fresh fruit and vegetables as well as traditional Spanish fare. Sotogrande has a
commercial shopping centre which shopaholics will love to explore.
Puerto Banus
has a larger shopping complex where you can buy items including jewellery,
perfume, watches, clothes, leather goods, pottery, fine art and linen. Many
visitors take a day trip to the rock of Gibraltar to get a tax-free shopping
experience. You can wander around the bright bazaars and haggle with the stall
holders.
Eating Out and Nightlife
There are many cafés and restaurants to be found in Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro.
You can enjoy a traditional Spanish meal or stop for a drink and some Tapas.
Several eateries have international menus with food from countries such as
France, Britain, Morocco and Italy. Sotogrande and Puerto de la Duquesa offer
fine dining experiences and several bars with entertainment.
There are no nightclubs or discos in the town; most evenings are spent taking
walks along the streets and sitting down to a delicious meal and refreshing
wine. There are a few lively bars in Sotogrande and Puerto de la Duquesa has a
few establishments with entertainment, which are open until the early hours.
