Nueva Andalucía is a fairly new resort located approximately 1 kilometre to the
north of
Puerto Banus. It is about 25 years old and as the name suggests, all of
the villas and apartments in the area are based upon traditional Andalucían
Spanish architecture. It is one of the largest resorts in the Costa del Sol
region and is one of the most exclusive. The community in Nueva Andalucía is
close-knit and there is an abundance of amenities and several schools for the
local residents to use.
Main Tourist Attractions
There are several beaches located at Nueva Andalucía where the family can relax
in the sun or participate in a variety of watersports. Golf facilities surround
the resort and other sporting activities such as tennis, squash, volleyball and
horse riding. There are also several gymnasiums. The bullring which is located
at the entrance to the resort no longer hosts bullfights but does occasionally
have concerts. As the resort is located next to the Sierra de Ronda mountain
range there are plenty of opportunities for walking, hiking and mountain biking.
For more attractions, Nueva Andalucía is well situated for visiting
Marbella,
Puerto Banus and the small town of
San Pedro de Alcantara.
Shopping Opportunities
Nueva Andalucía has its own shopping centre, the Centro Plaza, where you will
find all kinds of items to purchase including electrical goods, sunglasses,
flowers, pottery, jewellery, clothing, shoes and leather goods. There are also
several supermarkets and boutiques where you will find those authentic souvenirs
to take home for family and friends. A Saturday open air market is held next to
the bullring each week; here you will find antiques, carpets, bric-a-brac and
souvenirs. If these shopping facilities do not quench your thirst, Puerto Banus
and Marbella are a short journey away for some even more serious shopping.
Eating out and Nightlife
The resort is becoming renowned for its choice of cuisine at its many cafés,
bars and restaurants. As well as serving traditional Spanish staples such as
Tapas, pork, chicken and paella, the eateries also offer international cuisine
including French, British, American and Italian.
Nightlife in Nueva Andalucía is considerably low key compared to other spots
around this area. For dancing the night away, the short distance to nearby
Marbella and Puerto Banus will present visitors with a host of bars, nightclubs
and discos. Nueva Andalucía has its own casino which is very large and hosts
live shows throughout the summer months.
