The New Golden Mile could be considered as a “modern extension” of the original
Golden Mile. The New Golden Mile area has been developed on the western side of
Marbella, between the towns of
Estepona and San Pedro del Alcántara. This new
district of Marbella is home to some of the most luxurious and expensive
properties in Marbella; it is also home to some of the most exclusive
developments. There are rumours that a large famous-named theme park will be
built within the New Golden Mile in several years time!
Main Tourist Attractions
There are beaches for the whole family to enjoy and partake in watersports such
as surfing, diving and jet skiing. Golf is a prominent feature of the area and
the New Golden Mile gives access to several well-known golf courses including
the Estepona and
El Paraiso clubs. Other leisure activities including tennis and
bowling are catered for, as well as several gymnasiums. The New Golden Mile is
in a prominent position to enjoy easy access to local landmarks, attractions and
activities in the centre of Marbella.
Shopping Opportunities
The New Golden Mile opened Laguna village several years back, which is a
glamorous and smart shopping centre located next to the beach. It has a myriad
of fine boutiques and internationally renowned fashion houses, as well as stores
selling items such as jewellery, watches, shoes, handbags, yacht accessories,
sunglasses and art. If you are a serious shopper, Marbella centre, the “old”
Golden Mile as well as Estepona’s shopping centres are close by.
Eating out and Nightlife
There is an abundance of cafés, bars and restaurants within the New Golden Mile.
There are many fine dining establishments serving traditional Spanish fare as
well as a choice of local and international wines. Laguna village has a host of
coffee shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a beach club where you can
order food and drink from the bar and relax by the pool. The beach club also
holds various live music concerts.
The evenings in the New Golden Mile urbanisation are quiet compared to other
areas of Marbella. Nights out consist of pleasant strolls through the streets
and a meal at an upmarket restaurant, sampling the delights of Spanish food and
wine. The beach club has some lively entertainment to keep you amused whilst
dining. If you want to dance through the night, the nightclubs, discos and bars
of Marbella will fulfil your needs.
