La Quinta Golf 

La Quinta Golf is a resort located approximately 5 minutes inland from San Pedro de Alcantara. It is predominantly a golf club and is surrounded by an array of luxury villas and apartments. La Quinta Golf was opened in 1989 and was designed by Manuel Piňero.

Main Tourist Attractions

Most visitors who reside at La Quinta Golf are there to sample the wonderful golf courses. The holes are quite challenging and require a lot of skill. A golf academy is available for those who wish to brush up on their techniques or to learn about the game from scratch. Other sporting facilities including tennis courts, swimming pools, gymnasiums and volleyball courts are available. You may also be able to take advantage of the spas available in the hotels. The short trip to San Pedro allows tourists to relax on its beautiful beach. There are also watersports available including parasailing, surfing and diving. San Pedro has something for history buffs too, namely Roman baths, a necropolis and a 6th century basilica. You could hop from San Pedro to Puerto Banus for beaches, a multiplex cinema and a marine observatory.

Shopping Opportunities

Shopping opportunities at La Quinta Golf are limited but there are plans to build an adjoining development which will have these facilities. Until then shoppers can indulge themselves in the rustic shops and boutiques in nearby San Pedro; there is also a market held here every Thursday. Serious shoppers can journey to Puerto Banus which has a shopping centre and an El Corte Ingles department store. Here you will find clothing, jewellery, shoes, handbags, watches, art, antiques, pottery, ornate linen and great ideas for gifts and souvenirs. Puerto Banus also holds a market on a Saturday – the perfect opportunity to pick up a bargain.

Eating out and Nightlife

La Quinta Golf has a few restaurants and cafés to choose from. They serve a mixture of traditional Spanish dishes and international cuisine from Britain, Japan and Italian. Nearby San Pedro has a wealth of cafés, bars and restaurants which also cater for most tastes.

The nightlife at La Quinta Golf is quite subdued and most evenings are spent dining in one of the restaurants followed by watching the world go by or taking in the spectacular views. Discos and nightclubs are in plentiful supply if you are willing to take the short trip into the centre of Marbella.
