Guadalmina is a beach resort located near to
Puerto Banus and
Marbella. It is also very close to the small, but historic, neighbourhood of
San Pedro de Alcantara. The resort has a lot to offer tourists with both new
and historic attractions. The exact date of settlement of the area is not known
but some believe that San Pedro and Guadalmina was a Greek town called Mainake;
others believe they were part of a Roman town named Salduba.

Golfers will enjoy the 36 hole course that Guadalmina has to offer. Guadalmina
Golf Club is the second oldest in the Costa del Sol region and is a popular
golfer’s paradise. There are also several other golf courses nearby. Guadalmina

skiing and diving. For those who love their history, Guadalmina has “Las Bóvedas”
(The Vaults), which were found in 1926. They date back to the 3rd century and
are believed to have been part of a Roman thermal baths. It has a strange
octagonal construction that has been well preserved due to its proximity to the
sea. Another historical monument to see in Guadalmina is the 16th century parish
church. The “Old Town” of Guadalmina has historical streets and is surrounded by
the town walls of the old Moorish castle. Tourists can also enjoy the Annual
Summer Fair which takes place in October. This is an excellent opportunity to
experience the vibrant atmosphere of the community and mix with the locals.

Guadalmina has a shopping centre which offers a range of outlets including art,
clothing, jewellery, perfume, books, electrical goods and sports items. There is
also a Sunday market held in the shopping centre every week offering bargains
for the most savvy of shoppers. From modern to authentic, shopping opportunities
in Guadalmina will accommodate every type of shopper.
Eating out and Nightlife
The resort has many restaurants, cafés and bars, that can be found in the town
itself, as well as along the promenades of the beautiful beaches. You will find
authentic Spanish cuisine including seafood, paella and Tapas. Guadalmina also
caters for international tastes with several restaurants offering English,
Italian, Japanese and French dishes.
Due to its proximity to Marbella and Puerto Banus, Guadalmina is a buzzing and
vibrant place to explore at night. There are several bars with live
entertainment and discos to dance the night away. If you are feeling lucky you
could visit the casino in nearby Puerto Banus.
