Elviria is a village and resort located between
Marbella and
Calahonda, in the
Costa del Sol. It is a popular tourist area and is even enjoyed by the rich and
famous. Elviria is most noted for its five star hotel, the Don Carlos; it also
boasts the internationally renowned Santa Maria Golf and Country Club. Much of
the accommodation is situated on an elevated position allowing visitors to take
in the beautiful inland scenery. The old village area reflects the traditional
Spanish style but modern and convenient amenities are within easy reach.
Main Tourist Attractions
Elviria beach is a popular draw for visitors as it stretches for miles in both
directions along the coast. It has clean, fine sand and offers many activities
including sailing, windsurfing and jet skiing. Nikki Beach which is located next
to the famous Don Carlos Hotel is an ideal location to spot the rich and famous.
Those who love golf will enjoy a game at the Santa Maria Golf and Country Club,
as well as the Santa Clara golf course. Other popular courses are located a
short distance away. Elviria also offers visitors sports activities such as
tennis, badminton and volleyball. Walks and hiking up Elviria Mountain is also a
favourite pastime for visitors. Elviria is situated perfectly to enjoy the
myriad of attractions in nearby Marbella and
Puerto Banus.
Shopping Opportunities
Elviria has two shopping centres which makes it a great place for shopaholics!
Here you will find a range of shops offering goods such as jewellery, clothing,
art, gifts and electrical goods. There are boutiques and family-owned shops in
the village centre offering Spanish style clothing as well as designer labels;
souvenirs, perfume, ceramics, pottery and linen are available in these stores
too. La Canada shopping centre is located in nearby Marbella if Elviria does not
feed your shopping appetite. The village does have a market which is held every
Friday and offers a range of products including local fresh fruit and
vegetables.
Eating out and Nightlife
Eating out in Elviria is a great experience and you will find all types of
cuisine to choose from. There is an abundance of Spanish restaurants serving
local fare such as Tapas, sardines, paella and lamb. A host of international
cuisine is available including Japanese, French, British, Indian and Mexican.
Some of the restaurants and bars have live entertainment and karaoke facilities.
Although Elviria is close to the larger nightlife of Marbella it is relatively
low key. Some of the bars have discos which are open until the early hours. For
the serious dancer it is a short trip to the centre of Marbella to enjoy the
buzzing social scene in the evening. If you are feeling lucky, you could hop on
over to the casino in Puerto Banus.
