Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis in Puerto Banus Marbella Costa Del Sol... O My

Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis and other super cars continue to frequent Puerto Banus, driving up and down the port and showing off their fancy cars. Of course the public love to see such super cars and many tourists can be seen taking souvenir pictures, on their holiday cameras.

One Ferrari has a remote start feature and the owner, comfortable seated in a nearby bar, has some great fun remotely starting the engine and revving the engine to the amazement of the passer-bys.

The latest Porsche always draws the crowds. The new Porsche 911R caused quite a stir. The British press seemed obsessed with a so called “property crash” in Spain, but on the evidence of these super cars and super yachts then it’s hard to believe there is a real problem here, of course the property market Worldwide has slowed. It is normal for the property market to fluctuate but that is not the same as property crash. I guess it’s the British press trying hard to make story, when in reality there is no story. Interest rates have gone up because the economy is booming, inflation is under control and property prices have slowed. This is not due to any sudden massive reduction in demand for Spanish property but rather the effect of the various Governments increasing interest rates. They do this to control the economy. The fact is these controls are working as expected and the result is a slowing of the property market that is by design and therefore does not constitute a property crash.

Marbella has for many years been associated with the rich and famous and of course these people love their cars. There is a Ferrari club that meets every month at the Tony Dali restaurant on the Golden mile and one can see Ferrari 348 GTB – Ferrari GTS the Ferrari 550 Maranello and most other Ferrari models. Ferrari is obviously very popular in Spain. How would you like a number plate such as FAST obviously well suited to a Ferrari or a Lamborghini owners. There are also plenty of Mercedes and the even the new Mercedes Mclaren; which is really an impressive super car.

Recently details have been released on a limited-edition track version Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. This super car will be hand-built for with an estimated price tag of 1 million pounds each. I wonder how long it will be before it arrives in Puerta Banus.

Porsche

Unlike Mercedes Mclaren Lamborghini have a rule not to be involved in motor racing as they considered such a program as too expensive and far too demanding on the company’s resources. It is interesting to see the Lamborghini’s driving at walking pace around the port of Puerta Banus, which is of course not so demanding on the cars.

Like many of the super yachts sometimes these rich boy’s toys are more for show than anything else. There is talk of a rally from London to Marbella exclusively for Porsche sports cars starting next May, something in the mould of the famous Gumball rally. There are some fantastic examples of the beautiful Porsche sport car including the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 or the Porsche 911 Targa or the Porsche Boxster, all wonderful cars. Interestingly before the introduction of the Porsche Boxster, Porsche did not make a profit. It was in 1996 that the first Porsche Boxster hit the streets and this new model proved to be such a great success it accounted for 50% of sales and from there on in Porsche have been profitable.
