Cartama - Second Property Demolished
Cartama Council has decreed that another illegally-built property should be demolished because it has been built on land not zoned for construction. This is the second time this year such action has been taken, as in June a 30 square-metre rural property was knocked down and local residents held a demonstration in protest.
Illegal building is proving to be a big problem for Cartama and the Council is investigating over 3,000 properties which are alleged to have been constructed on land where it is not permitted. When a demolition order is issued, the property owners are encouraged to organise the works themselves but if they fail to do so the Council takes charge of the matter.
